Well you could do a lot worse than checking out the winners of the SPATA Design Awards 2009. These annual awards are run and presented by SPATA (Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association) to companies who have excelled in their field. A total of 13 companies came away with gold awards with five separate companies winning top UK titles and we've listed the consumer related categories and their winners below.
An indoor residential pool built by Heritage Pools of Surrey and an outdoor residential pool built by the team from Rio Pools and Hot Tubs of Gloucestershire took the glamorous Pools Of The Year awards.
The London Swimming Pool Company and Penguin Swimming Pools from Devon, tied for the top spot of Pool Contractor of the Year.
Welsh-based Oyster Pool and Leisure completed a remarkable double – adding Pool Retailer Of The Year to the title of Hot Tub Retailers of the year they won last autumn as part of the British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association – a sister organisation to SPATA under the British Swimming Pool Federation umbrella.
Engineered Pool Supplies, of Essex, was victorious clinching a second successive win in the Environmental Award category.
“Demand for luxury swimming pools and home wellness continues to buck the downward economic trend as people opt to improve rather than move,” comments Stephen Booth, president of the British Swimming Pool Federation that includes SPATA.
The Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association represents about 250 specialist pool building companies across the UK with a combined turnover of about £250 million.
